The other driver failed to yield and turned into the path of the motorcycle, FHP troopers say.

PASCO COUNTY – A Land O’ Lakes man died Saturday (Nov. 23) when the motorcycle he was riding collided with a car on U.S. 301, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

David Walter Engberg, 29, of Land O’ Lakes, died at the scene.The other driver, Shirley Ann Brooks, 73, of Zephyrhills, was taken to Advent Health Zephyrhills with minor injuries.

The crash happened about 12:25 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. 301 and Daughtry Road in Pasco County.

Troopers said Mr. Engberg was driving a 2012 Yamaha YZF-R1 north on U.S. 301 when he was hit by the 2018 Chevrolet Sonic Brooks was driving. Brooks was turning left from southbound U.S. 301 onto Daughtry Road. Troopers said Brooks failed to yield the right of way.

Alcohol was not involved in the crash, troopers said.

Charges are pending.
