The head-on crash was alcohol related, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – Three people were seriously injured in a wrong-way, head-on crash Friday (Feb. 10), the Florida Highway Patrol said.

James Edward Cissell, 75, of Lithia, was taken to Tampa General. Teresa Ann Flowers, 53, and Conda Gail Griffith, 73, both of Plant City, were taken to Lakeland Regional. Griffith was a passenger in Flowers’ car. All three were listed in serious condition.

The crash happened about 12:15 p.m. on State Road 60 east of Sydney Washer Road. Cissell, who had been drinking, was driving a 1999 Dodge Ram pickup, troopers said. Cissell turned into the eastbound lanes of State Road 60 from Turkey Creek Road. Cissell, who was headed westbound in the eastbound lanes, traveled into the median where he hit a sign post, troopers said.

Cissell continued westbound in the eastbound lanes, troopers said, and sideswiped three other eastbound vehicles. East of Sydney Washer Road, troopers said, Cissell collided head on with a 2015 Chevrolet Camaro driven by Flowers. The Camaro spun and came to a rest in the median. The pickup overturned.
