Eight Seriously Injured in Single-Vehicle Crash on I-4

Seven of the injured were children, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – Eight passengers were seriously injured Sunday (May 28) when a driver lost control of the SUV he was driving, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Natasha Binion, 26; Darius Carson, 10; Zouia Carson, 8: Mariah Carson, 6; Harmony Carson, 4; Jeremiah Carson, 2; and Lyrik and Messiah Carson, both 1; were seriously injured. Keith Odell Carson, 29, the driver, suffered minor injuries. All are from Tampa and all were taken to Tampa General Hospital.

The crash happened about 3:50 p.m. on I-4 east of State Road 574 in Hillsborough County. Troopers said Keith Carson lost control of the 2009 Chevrolet Suburban he was driving. The SUV left the road and traveled onto the grass shoulder where it overturned, spun and hit a chain link fence. After hitting the fence, a trailer being towed by the SUV also overturned.
