I-75 Crash Kills Valrico Motorcyclist

He was thrown off when he hit the median guardrail, FHP troopers said.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – A Valrico man died of injuries he suffered Monday (May 14) when he was thrown from his motorcycle after it hit the center guardrail, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Jeffrey Showen, 58, of Valrico, died at Tampa General Hospital where he was taken after the crash. He was wearing a helmet.

The crash happened about 10:42 a.m. on southbound I-75 at the 262.5 milepost just north of I-4 in Hillsborough County.

Troopers said Mr. Showen was driving a 2016 three-wheeled motorcycle in the inside lane when he lost control of the bike, entered the median and collided with the center guardrail. The impact threw him from the bike and onto the northbound median shoulder.

Troopers are asking that anyone who witnessed the crash to contact the FHP by calling *FHP or (813) 558-1800.
