HOLIDAY – The Florida Highway Patrol is searching for a hit and run driver who crashed into a 14-year-old on his bicycle.

The car also crashed into a parked car and two mailboxes. Debris from the crash also hit a 12-year-old bicyclist and the parked car was pushed into a house, troopers said.

Johnny A. Walsh, Jr., 14, of Holiday, was taken to Florida Hospital North in Pinellas County with minor injuries. The other bicyclist, Jonathan T. Soto, 12, of Holiday, also received minor injuries but was not taken to a hospital.

The crash happened about 3:55 p.m. Monday on Moog Road. Troopers said a 1998 Ford SUV was traveling south on Windham Drive approaching Moog. The driver of the SUV failed to stop for the stop sign at Moog, turned left onto Moog and lost control of the SUV. Troopers said the SUV traveled onto the shoulder of the road, then back across the roadway as the driver over-corrected.

The SUV continued traveling and hit a second mailbox at 3928 Moog. Debris from that collision hit Johnathan.

After that, troopers said, the SUV left the scene. It was described as a Golf Ford Expedition with the license plate number “GYC T99,” troopers said. The driver was described as a white man with light brown or blonde hair, 20-30 years old.

The FHP is searching for both the vehicle and the driver. Anyone with information is asked to contact the FHP by calling *FHP (*347) or (813) 631-4020 or Crime Stoppers.
