Tampa police are searching for the driver.

TAMPA – Police here are searching for a driver who fled after hitting a pedestrian who died of his injuries.

The crash happened late Friday (June 2) or early Saturday (June 3) about midnight near the intersection of W Hillsborough Avenue and N Hesperides Street.

An unidentified pedestrian was trying to cross Hillsborough Avenue from the north side of the road to the south side when he was struck by a westbound vehicle, Tampa police said. After the collision the car failed to stop. The pedestrian was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital where he died of his injuries.
