The other two drivers in the crash sustained minor injuries, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

HERNANDO COUNTY – A hit and run driver caused a traffic crash that resulted in a tractor-trailer jackknifing and blocking northbount I-75, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Robert Abreu, 18, of Brooksville, the driver of a 2006 Honda Civic, and David Stalvey, 66, of Homerville, GA, the tractor-trailer driver, sustained minor injuries. Neither was taken to a hospital.

The crash happened about 1:22 a.m today (May 6) at mile marker 297 on northbound I-75 in Hernando County. The unknown vehicle was traveling on the inside lane and made an improper lane change causing a collision with Abreu’s Honda, which was in the next lane. The Honda spun and came to rest in the center lane as the other vehicle left the scene, troopers said.

Stalvey steered to the left to avoid the Honda but was unable to do so and hit it. The Honda was pushed to the outside shoulder. The tractor-trailer jackknifed and hit the center median before coming to a final rest blocking the northbound lanes on I-75.

The hit and run vehicle was described as a white passenger car. Anyone with information is asked to call the FHP at (813) 631-4020.
