Hit and Run Kills Pedestrian in Pinellas

The Florida Highway Patrol is searching for the driver of the SUV-type vehicle that hit him.

PINELLAS COUNTY – A pedestrian died of injuries he received Wednesday (Nov. 1) evening in a hit and run crash on 54th Avenue N, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Levi Brodie Forsyth, 38, of St. Petersburg, died at Bayfront Health St. Petersburg, where he was taken after the crash.

The crash happened about 7:20 p.m. Troopers said Mr. Forsyth was walking in an unknown direction in the travel lane of 54th Avenue N near Haines Road when he was struck by an unknown vehicle.

The impact propelled him into the path of a 2015 Ford Edge driven by Heather Ann Campbell, 33, of St. Petersburg where he was again hit.

After the impact, the first vehicle fled the scene. It was described as a small to mid-size SUV-type vehicle similar to a Ford Edge. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call the Highway Patrol at *FHP or Crime Stoppers.
