The driver lost control of his van and the trailer he was towing, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – An Ohio woman was seriously injured Friday when the van in which she was riding overturned, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Joan Meadows, 69, of Cincinatti, Ohio, was taken to Tampa General Hospital with serious injuries. The driver, Bruce E. Meadows, 69, also of Cincinatti, was taken to Tampa General with minor injuries.

Troopers said the crash happened about 3:33 p.m. on northbound I-75 south of State Road 60. Mr. Meadows was driving a 2008 Dodge Sprinter that was towing an Airstream trailer. He was approaching slow and/or stopped traffic. Troopers said he steered left to avoid a collision and lost control of the Dodge and trailer. The Dodge and trailer rotated into the center median, hit a guard rail and overturned, troopers said.
