HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – The passenger in the rear seat of a car died Monday (March 13) of injuries she received in a traffic crash, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said.

Elicane Tanelus, 65, died at Tampa General Hospital of injuries she received in the crash. The others in the car, Denise Noel, Ashton Noel, 6, and Clayton Noel, 16 months, of Wimauma, were taken to Tampa General with non-life threatening injuries. Yasmin Fuentes, 17, of Ruskin, the driver of the other vehicle, was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital South where she was treated and released.

The crash happened about 3:22 p.m. at 2814 14th Ave. SE in Ruskin. Deputies said Noel was turning her 2012 Hyundai Sonata left onto 14th Avenue while exiting the private driveway at 2814 14th Ave. Noel turned into the path of 2004 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck driven by Fuentes.

Deputies said Fuentes told them she was traveling at about 30 mph to 35 mph when she saw the Hyundai turn. She braked but said her tires slid on the wet pavement. The Chevrolet hit the left side of the Hyundai.
