Hillsborough Avenue Crash Kills Wesley Chapel Bicyclist

He was thrown from his bike, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – A Wesley Chapel man died Sunday (Nov. 4) of injuries he suffered in a traffic crash on Hillsborough Avenue, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

David Keith Cecich, 61, of Wesley Chapel, died at Tampa General Hospital where he was taken after the crash. He was not wearing a helmet.

The crash happened about 12:22 p.m. on Hillsborough east of Harney Road in Hillsborough County.

Troopers said Mr. Cecich was riding east in the westbound bike lane on Hillsborough. A 2013 Dodge driven by Corey Nathan Lucas, 30, of Valrico, was westbound on HIllsborough.

The Dodge changed lanes to the outside lane and collided with the bicycle. Mr. Ceich was thrown from his bike.
