PINELLAS COUNTY – Florida Highway Patrol troopers have identified a motorcyclist whose body was found Thursday (Nov. 29) morning in the bushes along I-275.

James Reid Butler IV, 27, of Lakewood Ranch, died at the scene.

Mr. Butler’s body was found about 10:55 a.m. by two highway workers who were picking up trash along the side of the interstate. He was found about 50 feet off the roadway in the bushes along the southbound shoulder of I-275 just north of 54th Avenue S. Pieces of a motorcycle were also found.

Troopers said that, during the early morning hours of Nov. 18, Mr. Butler was riding a 2002 Honda motorcycle south on I-275 approaching 54th Avenue S when, for an unknown reason, the bike left the roadway and traveled into the grass median where it overturned and collided with several trees.
