Police Tape | Caution | Safety

One of the deceased and the two who were seriously injured are from St. Petersburg.

BREVARD COUNTY – Two people died and two others were seriously injured in a head-on collision Saturday (March 17), the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Martha McHenry, 57, of St. Petersburg, died at Wuestoff Rockledge Regional Medical Center where she was taken after the crash. Argelio Chappotin, 55, of Melbourne, died at Parrish Medical Center. Larry Stubbs, 60, and Margaret McHenry, 57, both of St. Petersburg, were taken to Holmes Regional Medical Center with serious injuries. The McHenrys were passengers in Stubbs’ car.

The crash happened about 9:30 p.m. on State Road 407 in Brevard County. Troopers said Mr. Chappotin was driving a 2016 Ford Edge north on SR 407. Stubbs was driving a 2000 Buick four-door sedan south on SR 407.

The Ford, for an unknown reason, veered into the southbound lanes and hit the Buick head on. It is unclear if Mr. Chappotin had been drinking or was otherwise impaired, troopers said. Test results are pending.

Troopers said the crash is still under investigation.
