HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – A Gibsonton woman died Friday (July 8) in a three-car crash in Hillsborough County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Jamie Lynn Pierantoni, 38, died at the scene, troopers said. Kayla Alexander, 22, of Bradenton, and Alicia Baine, 30, of Tampa, the drivers of the other two vehicles, were taken to Tampa General Hospital with minor injuries.

The crash happened about 5:03 p.m. on I-75 south of Fowler Avenue. A 2015 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Ms. Pierantoni, a 2001 Toyota Tundra driven by Alexander, and a 2013 Volkswagen Passat driven by Baine were all headed south on the interstate. Ms. Pierantoni changed lanes and her Malibu collided with the Tundra, troopers said. The Tundra then hit the Passat before leaving the road where it hit a tree, spun and came to rest in the tree line. The Tundra also went off the road and overturned. Baine was able to bring the Passat to a controlled stop, troopers said.

No charges have been filed.
