FHP troopers say one driver failed to negotiate a curve.

PASCO COUNTY – FIve San Antonio residents were seriously injured in a head-on crash Monday (Jan. 27) night on State Road 52, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Jennifer Jayne Knotts, 33, one of the drivers; Brenda Jean Lloyd, 46, the other driver; and three passengers in Lloyd’s SUV, John D. Lloyd, 50 and two children ages 10 and 12, were all seriously injured. All were taken to Tampa General Hospital. All are from San Antonio.

The crash happened about 8:35 p.m. on SR 52 west of Emmaus Cemetery Road in Pasco County.

Troopers said Knotts was driving a 2006 Ford Fusion west on SR 52 when she failed to negotiate a right curve and entered the path of the 2019 Honda Odyssey that Brenda Jean Lloyd was driving. The two vehicles hit almost head-on.

Alcohol was not a factor in the crash. Troopers said charges are pending.
