TARPON SPRINGS – A Tarpon Springs man died Friday (Sept. 29) of injuries he suffered in a three-vehicle crash on U.S. 19, according to the Tarpon Springs Police Department.
Barrett Richard Phelps, 43, of Tarpon Springs, died at Florida Hospital North Pinellas where he was taken after the crash. The driver of a 2012 Ford Mustang, one of the other vehicles involved in the crash, sustained minor injuries.
The crash happened about 8:14 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. 19 and Mango Street. The impact threw Mr. Phelps off his bike into the center median. The motorcycle continued in the travel lane and hit the Chevrolet. The motorcycle and Chevrolet came to a rest and burst into flames.
