Fiery Crash Closes I-75

An overturned dump truck closed the southbound lanes of I-75 for about an hour and a half, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

HERNANDO COUNTY – A dump truck that caught fire after it overturned closed southbound lanes on I-75 for about an hour and a half this morning (Aug. 9), the Florida Highway Patrol said.

No one was hurt in the crash.

The crash happened about 9:24 a.m. on southbound I-75 at the 300 Mile Marker just south of State Road 50 in Hernando County. Troopers said Alexi Revilla,. 45, of Tampa was driving a dump truck carrying rock blew a tire.

Revilla lost control of the truck, which entered the center median and collided with the guard rail. The truck overturned and caught fire.

Southbound lanes of I-75 were temporarily closed. The highway was reopened by about 11 a.m.
