HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – A Jupiter woman was charged with driving under the influence after she crashed into a marked Florida Highway Patrol car and injured a trooper, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Trooper Jessica Manganaro, 28, of Tampa, was taken to Tampa General Hospital with minor injuries.

Susan E. Ross, 41, of Jupiter, was charged with DUI injury, DUI property damage, and driving with an open container of alcohol. Troopers said she refused to provide a breath sample.

The crash happened about 8:24 p.m. Sunday (April 2) on State Road 574 east of Carroway Street. Manganaro, who was in a marked FHP patrol car, had her flashing lights on while she made a U-turn on SR 574 so she could help another trooper. Ross was behind Manganaro’s patrol car driving a 1997 Ford Mustang. Troopers said Ross failed to slow for the patrol car and rear ended it.
