Troopers said they have a description of the truck and a partial license plate.

PASCO COUNTY – The Florida Highway Patrol said troopers are searching for a hit and run driver after a crash Wednesday (June 14) that left the other driver with minor injuries.

Stephanie Gillespie, 41, of Tampa, received minor injuries in the crash. She was not taken to a hospital.

The crash happened about 4:30 p.m. on State Road 54 at Grand Avenue. Gillespie was eastbound in the left turn lane for Grand Avenue when she stopped for a red traffic signal and for other cars that were stopped ahead of her. Troopers said the unknown driver failed to stop and rear ended the 2008 Volvo SUV Gillespie was driving.

The driver got out of his truck and spoke with Gillespie, then returned to his vehicle and fled the scene without exchanging crash information.

Troopers said the vehicle is a newer model dark gray Dodge Ram 1500. The driver was about 50 years old and 5 feet 9 inches tall. He had short blond hair and was wearing a white T-shirt with a gold chain. Anyone with any information is asked to call the Florida Highway Patrol at (813) 631-4020.
