He was driving at a high rate of speed when he lost control of his car, FHP troopers said.

PINELLAS COUNTY – A Tarpon Springs man was seriously injured this morning (Oct. 21) in a single-car crash on Belcher Road, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Oshane Ryan Porrey, 27, of Tarpon Springs, was taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg in serious condition. Troopers said the crash was alcohol-related.

The crash happened about 1:44 a.m. at Belcher and Alderman roads in Pinellas County.

Troopers said Porrey was driving a 2013 Kia Forte north on Belcher approaching Alderman at a “high rate of speed” when he lost control of his car.

The Kia rotated onto the east shoulder of the roadway where it hit a raised curb and overturned multiple times. While overturning, the Kia collided with a traffic sign, then a utility pole with a Duke Energy power box, then a Verizon cable junction box, then a Spectrum phone box, and finally a chain link fence before coming to a final rest upright on the shoulder north of Alderman Road.
