FHP Arrests Hit and Run Driver after Hillsborough Crash

No one was injured in the crash, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – A Ruskin man has been accused of leaving the scene of a traffic crash Sunday (March 12), the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Kirk Matthew Willing, 45, of Ruskin, was charged with careless driving and leaving the scene of a crash with damage.

Troopers said Willing was driving a 2013 Nissan Rogue north on U.S. 41 south of 15th Avenue NE when he overtook and collided with the rear of a 2013 Toyota SUV driven by Melinda K. Plehn, 70, of Apollo Beach. Both vehicles can to a controlled stop on the shoulder of U.S. 41, then Willing drove away. Troopers said Plehn was able to get the license plate number and description of the vehicle.
