Pinellas County deputies and officers from other law enforcement agencies will monitor traffic throughout Pinellas County as the long holiday weekend kicks off.

PINELLAS COUNTY – In an effort to reduce DUI-related injuries and deaths, deputies will conduct a wolf pack operation in Pinellas County over the holiday weekend, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.

The operation will begin at 7 p.m. tonight (Dec. 21) and continue until 5 a.m. Saturday (Dec. 22).

Pinellas County deputies will be working in conjunction with officers from the St. Petersburg, Gulfport, Kenneth City, Clearwater and Pinellas Park police departments. They will maintain a proactive profile over the
holiday weekend on the highly-traveled roadways of Pinellas County.

The operation is part of the Pinellas County sheriff’s ongoing commitment to reduce deaths, injuries and property damage associated with traffic crashes related to impaired driving. The goal of the wolf pack is to educate people and create public awareness about the dangers of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and/or any chemical or controlled substances.

Mothers Against Drunk Driving, the Suncoast Safety Council and the Chaplains’ Outreach Ministries will be supporting law enforcement during the operation.

The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office will be conducting wolf packs continuously throughout the year.
