Drivers Seriously Injured in Wrong-Way Crash in Pasco

The crash was alcohol related, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

PASCO COUNTY – Two drivers were seriously injured Monday (Jan. 29) in a wrong-way crash in Pasco County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Kathleen A. Raspolich, 73, of New Port Richey, was taken to Regional Medical Center Baypoint in serious condition.Troopers said she had been drinking.

Joseph Volpatti, 51, also of New Port Richey, was taken to Bayonet Point in critical condition.

The crash happened about 9:12 p.m. Monday (Jan. 29) at County Road 77 (Seven Springs Boulevard) south of Mitchell Boulevard.

Raspolich was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Avalon south in the inside northbound lane of CR 77 “at a high rate of speed,” troopers said. The Chevrolet collided head-on with a 2006 Chrysler Sebring drive by Volpatti, which was headed north in the inside northbound lane of CR 77. The Chevrolet overturned after the impact.
