Both Drivers Cited in Crash That Seriously Injured Spring Hill Woman

One was driving recklessly, the other failed to yield the right of way, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

PASCO COUNTY – Both drivers were cited in a traffic crash this morning (April 9) that seriously injured one of them, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Jordan Justine Burns, 21, of Spring Hill, was taken to Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point with serious injuries. Troopers charged her with reckless driving.

The other driver, Daryl Albert Harmon Jr., 37, of Hudson, received minor injuries but was not taken to a hospital. Troopers cited him for failure to yield.

The crash happened about 8:30 a.m. at the intersection of U.S. 19 N and Tower Drive in Pasco County. Troopers said Burns was driving a 2011 Kia Forte south on U.S. 19 approaching Tower Drive. Troopers said she was “traveling at a high rate of speed, following numerous vehicles too closely, and weaving in and out of other traffic.”

When the Kia reached the intersection, troopers said, Harmon turned a 2015 Ford F150 into the path of the Kia. The vehicles collided and both overturned, They traveled to the west shoulder of U.S. 19 south of Tower Drive where they hit a utility pole and fence.
