Driver Seriously Injured in Wrong-Way Hillsborough Crash

Florida Highway Patrol troopers said they believe the crash was alcohol-related.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – A Land O’ Lakes man was seriously injured Sunday (Feb. 12) in a wrong-way, head-on collision, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Gregg Alan Richardson, 57, of Land O’ Lakes, was taken to Blake Medical Center in serious condition. Troopers said he had been drinking. Juan Luis Garcia, 26, of Palmetto, received minor injuries but was not taken to a hospital.

The crash happened about 1:58 a.m. on northbound I-75 at milepost 236. Troopers said Richardson was driving a 2000 Nissan SUV south in the northbound lanes when he collided head on with a 2007 GMC truck driven by Garcia.
