Driver Seriously Injured in I-4 Crash

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – A Tampa man was seriously injured this morning (Oct. 15) in a single-vehicle crash on an I-4 exit ramp, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Jesus Almella, 52, of Tampa, was taken to Tampa General Hospital in serious condition.

The crash happened about 10:45 a.m. on the eastbound exit ramp from I-4 to I-75 in Hillsborough County.

Troopers said Amella was driving a 2010 Acura SUV east on I-4. He took the exit ramp to get on northbound I-75 and lost control of his SUV. The SUV left the roadway, rotated and hit a concrete support column.
