He was traveling at a high rate of speed and drove the wrong-way for a short distance before the crash, FHP troopers said. Alcohol was not a factor in the crash.

HERNANDO COUNTY – A Spring Hill man was seriously injured Thursday (Nov. 29) when his car burst into flames after it crashed, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Andrew Edward Biggart, 42, of Spring Hill, was taken to Tampa General Hospital in critical condition. He remained in serious condition this afternoon (Nov. 30). Troopers said the crash was not alcohol related.

The crash happened about 5 p.m. at 4163 Shoal Line Blvd. in Hernando County.

Troopers said Biggart was driving a 2008 ford Edge north on Shoal Line Boulevard at a “high rate of speed, passing several other vehicles before then traveling northbound in the southbound lanes briefly.”

The Ford left the road, traveled onto the west shoulder where it hit a mailbox. The Ford continued until it collided with a fence and then a tree. The car rotated to final rest on the west shoulder and became engulfed in flames.
