Driver Seriously Injured in Early Morning Hillsborough Crash

She was airlifted from one hospital to another, the Hillsborough sheriff said.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – A Wimauma woman was seriously injured this morning (May 9) in a traffic crash at Big Bend Road and I-75, the Hillsborough Sheriff’s Office said.

Doraelia Ledesma, 27, of Wimauma, was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital-South with severe head trauma. She was subsequently flown to St. Joseph’s Hospital-Main. Kenneth B. Clark, 60, of Tampa, the other driver was not injured.

The crash happened about 5:34 a.m. Ledesma was driving a 2017 Hyundai Accent westbound on Big Bend Road. Deputies said Ledesma made a left turn at the northbound on-ramp for I-75 and into the path of an eastbound 1996 Kenworth semi-truck with an empty flatbed trailer driven by Clark. The front of the semi-truck struck the right front of the Hyundai, knocking it about 110 feet east before it came to rest.
