Driver Dies after Pasco Crash

She drove into the path of a pickup truck, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

PASCO COUNTY – A San Antonio woman died of injuries she received in a Sunday (May 14) traffic crash, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Carolyn Bentley, 87, of San Antonio, died sat St. Joseph’s Hospital where she was taken after the crash. The other driver, Mackenzie Montgomery, 16, of Spring Hill, received minor injuries. She was not taken to a hospital.

The crash happened about 7:22 p.m. at the intersection of County Road 578 and Lake Iola Road. Troopers said Ms. Bentley was driving a 2011 Chevrolet Aveo south on Lake Iola. She stopped at a stop sign at the intersection of Lake Iola and CR 578. Troopers said she then entered the intersection into the path of the 2008 Nissan Frontier that Montgomery was driving.

The Nissan hit the left rear side of the Chevrolet. The impact caused the Nissan to overturn.
