Driver Dies in CR 583 Crash
His passenger is in serious condition.
PASCO COUNTY – A Land O’ Lakes man died Monday (Oct. 22) in a single-car crash on Country Road 583 (Ehren cutoff), the Florida Highway Patrol said.
Scott Edward Butterfield, 51, of Land O’ Lakes, died at the scene. He was not wearing a seat belt.
His passenger, Jody Rae Branan, 68, also of Land O’ Lakes, was taken to the Regional Medical Center at Bayonet Point in serious condition. It is unclear if she was wearing a seat belt.
The crash happened about 7:22 p.m. on CR 583 (Ehren cutoff) approaching Horton Road in Pasco County.
Mr. Butterfield was driving a 2003 Buick Regal north on CR 583 approaching Horton Road at a high rate of speed. He lost control of the Buick, which left the road and hit a utility pole.
