Driver Dies When Car Hits House in Spring Hill
The car became airborne before it hit the house, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
HERNANDO COUNTY – A Spring Hill woman died Thursday (Aug. 25) after she ran a stop sign and hit a house, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Kristen Dawkins, 22, of Spring Hill, died at the scene. It is unclear if alcohol was involved. She was not wearing a seat belt.
The crash happened about 7:10 a.m. at Harrow Road north of Elk Lane in Spring Hill when Ms. Dawkins failed to stop at the stop sign. Troopers said the undercarriage of her 2008 Nissan Altima collided with the street. The Nissan became airborne, spun and entered the front yard at 3205 Harrow Road where it hit a palm tree. The Nissan kept traveling until it hit the house at 3197 Harrow Road.
