Driver Cited After Fatal Motorcycle Crash

The driver failed to yield right of way to the motorcyclist, FHP troopers said.

PASCO COUNTY – A driver was cited after a crash that killed a Brooksville motorcyclist, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Terry Eugene Bennett, 57, of Brooksville, died at the Regional Medical Center of Bayonet Point where he was taken after the crash.

The other driver, Ernest F. Jackson, 93, of New Port Richey, was not injured. Troopers cited him for violation of the right of way.

The crash happened about 5:04 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 13) on Old County Road 54 at St. Lawrence Drive.

Troopers said Jackson was driving a 2006 Honda CRV in the left turn lane of Old CR 54. He turned left onto St. Lawrence into the path of the 2005 motorcycle that Mr. Bennett was driving.

The crash caused Mr. Bennett to be thrown from the motorcycle. The Honda was pushed onto the shoulder of the road where it hit a stop sign.
