Driver Cited After Crash with St. Pete Motorcycle Officer

ST. PETERSBURG – A driver was cited and a St. Petersburg motorcycle officer suffered minor injuries in a traffic crash Wednesday (Dec. 5), according to the St. Petersburg Police Department.

Officer Robert Peters was taken to a hospital after the crash. He was treated and released with minor injuries.

The driver of the other vehicle, Willoved Chery, 22, was issued a ticket for failing to yield at a stop sign to an oncoming vehicle.

The crash happened about 9:18 a.m. at the intersection of Central Avenue and 19th Street.

Police said Peters was driving his department motorcycle west on Central when it collided with a 2010 Ford van drive by Chery for W.F.D. Heath Management Services, which was traveling south on 19th Street. Chery halted at the stop sign at the intersection, then proceeded through the intersection where he hit Chery.
