Driver Cited After Crash with Pinellas Deputy

Neither speed nor impairment was a factor, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said.

CLEARWATER – A Clearwater woman was cited after a traffic crash with a deputy late Thursday (June 21) night, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said.

Miranda Clark, 23, of Clearwater, was cited for failure to yield. She was taken to a local hospital to be evaluated as a precautionary measure. The other driver, Deputy Justin Gould, 40, who has worked for the department since November 2016, was not injured.

The crash happened about 10:42 p.m. at the intersection of Missouri Avenue and Santa Rosa Street in Clearwater.

Gould was on-duty driving north on Missouri Avenue in his unmarked 2010 Dodge Avenger. Clark was driving her 2013 Chevrolet Spark,west on Santa Rosa Street approaching Missouri.

Deputies said Clark stopped at the stop sign at Santa Rosa Street and Missouri Avenue, then started to turn south onto Missouri Avenue, pulling in front of the Dodge. The front of the Dodge hit the front
driver’s side of Clark’s vehicle.

Deputies said they do not believe impairment or speed was a factor in the crash.
