One deputy suffered minor injuries in the crash, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said.

SEMINOLE – A driver was cited after a traffic crash that injured a Pinellas deputy, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputy Howard Miller, 56, was taken for medical help by another deputy. Miller had minor injuries. Richard L. Hain, 47, the driver of one of the other vehicles, was taken to a hospital with minor injuries. Hain was cited for careless driving and not wearing a seat belt.

The crash happened about 10:55 a.m. Thursday (Aug. 16) on Bryan Dairy Road at Concept Boulevard in Seminole.

Deputies Ken Snavely and Miller were on-duty and had completed a traffic stop in the eastbound curb lane on Bryan Dairy Road when the crash happened, deputies said. Snavely’s 2012 Chevrolet Tahoe belonging to the Sheriff’s Office was parked directly behind Miller’s 2016 Tahoe. Both fully marked agency vehicles had their emergency lights on.

Miller was sitting inside his Tahoe completing paperwork from the traffic stop and Snavely was standing outside Miller’s SUV at the passenger side door.

Hain, was driving his 2000 Mercury Mountaineer eastbound on Bryan Dairy Road, when deputies said he crashed into the back of Snavely’s Tahoe. The impact pushed Snavely’s SUV into the rear of Miller’s Tahoe.
