The driver turned into the path of another car and then hit a third car, FHP troopers said.

PINELLAS COUNTY – An Indiana man died and his passenger was seriously injured Sunday (March 10) in a crash on Ulmerton Road, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

David Eugene Massaro, 60, of Carmel, IN, died at the scene. His passenger, Teresa Lynn Hartman, 56, also of Carmel, was taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg in serious condition.

One of the other drivers, Marvin Centeno-Martinez, 29, and his passenger, Janelice Castillo Santiago, 19, both of Ocala, were taken to Largo Medical Center with minor injuries. The third driver and his passenger were not injured.

The crash happened about 3:54 p.m. at the intersection of Ulmerton and 34th Street N in Pinellas County.

Troopers said Mr. Massaro was driving a 2019 Nissan Sentra west on Ulmerton when he turned left into the path of the 2008 Honda Civic that Centeno-Martinez was driving west on Ulmerton. The front of the Honda hit the left side of the Nissan, which rotated and hit a 2017 Honda Accord that was in the eastbound left turn lane on Ulmerton.

No charges are expected.
