One Dead, Four Seriously Injured from Pasco Crash

This was the second crash at that location on Saturday (March 25).

PASCO COUNTY – A Port Richey man died Saturday (March 25) of injuries he received in a three-vehicle wreck on State Road 52, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Johnathon Michael Carmack, 28, of Port Richey, died at St. Joseph’s Hospital where he was taken after the crash. Katherine Cecilia Yager, 28, of Holiday, a passenger in Mr. Carmack’s SUV, was taken to Bayonet Point Hospital with critical injuries.

Julian Barger, 13, of New Port Richey, was airlifted to St. Joseph’s with serious injuries. He was a passenger in a Lincoln SUV. Efraim Abramsohn, 70, the driver of a Mercedes E400, and his passenger, Leslie Croteau-Abramsohn, 58, were both taken to Bayonet Point with serious injuries. Both are from San Antonio, FL.

The driver of the Lincoln, Samuel D. Grimes, Jr., 27, of Daytona Beach, and his other passengers, Joselyn L. Heaberlin, 32; Annabelle Cannerlla, 1; Rhian Barger, 12; and Skiyelynn Heaberlin, 5; all of New Port Richey, received minor injuries but were not taken to hospitals.

The crash happened about 6:02 p.m. on SR 52 east of Ehren Cutoff. Mr. Carmack was driving a 2000 Chevrolet Blazer east on SR 52 when he entered the westbound lane into oncoming traffic. Troopers said the left side of the Chevrolet struck the left side of the 2004 Lincoln SUV driven by Grimes. The Lincoln spun after the impact, left the roadway and collided with a fence on the north shoulder of SR 52.The Chevrolet continued on and collided with a 2017 Mercedes E400 driven by Abramsohn. The impact caused both vehicles to spin. They came to rest in the travel lanes of SR 52.

The crash was the second to happen in that area on Saturday. Troopers said a motorcycle driver, William D. Berry, 73, of Tampa, died at Bayonet Point Regional Medical Center where he was taken after a 6:45 a.m. crash at SR 52 east of Ehren Cutoff. Troopers said Mr. Berry, who was driving a motorcycle, was hit from behind.
