One Dead, One Serious in Fiery Crash on Old Lakeland Highway

The crash closed Old Lakeland Highway for more than six hours, FHP troopers said.

PASCO COUNTY – A Sebring man died and a Homosassa woman was seriously injured in a fiery crash Friday (Sept. 14) morning, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Dillon Wade Anderson, 22, died at the scene.The other driver, Maribel Vazquez Valle, of Homosassa, was taken to Lakeland Regional Medical Center in serious condition.

Details of the crash, which happened about 5:45 a.m. on Old Lakeland Highway just south of Clinton Avenue, are unavailable.

Troopers said Mr. Anderson was driving a 2016 Nissan and Valle was driving a 2016 Chrysler on Old Lakeland. The two vehicles collided, came to a final rest in the roadway and became engulfed in flames.

The crash closed the roadway until about 12:15 p.m.
