Dade City Man Dies after Crash

He lost control of his pickup truck and flipped several times, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

HERNANDO COUNTY – A Dade City man died Thursday (Oct. 27) of injuries he received when his pickup truck flipped multiple times, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Jeffrey K. Gommier, 50, of Dade City, died at Bayfront Hospital where he was taken after the crash.

The crash happened about 7:20 p.m. on State Road 50 near S Main Street. Mr. Gommier was driving a 1998 Chevrolet S10 pickup truck east in the outside lane of SR 50 in Hernando County when, for unknown reasons, he lost control of the vehicle.

The truck left the roadway and traveled onto the shoulder where it hit a railroad service ladder, other railroad utilities and the railroad tracks causing the truck to overturn multiple times, troopers said.
