Two Critically Injured in Ulmerton Road Crash

An unborn child died as a result of the crash, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

PINELLAS COUNTY – Two people were critically injured and two suffered minor injuries in a traffic crash on Ulmerton Road on Wednesday (Aug. 16) night, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Mark Williams, 60, the driver of one of the vehicles, and Kerriann Hypatia Elders, 19, a passenger in the other vehicle, were taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg with critical injuries. Both are from Largo. Elders was six months pregnant, Troopers said her unborn child received fatal injuries.

Anthony Christian Forte, 23, of Indian Rocks Beach, the other driver, and David James Parkhurst, 21, of Largo, another passenger in his vehicle, received minor injuries. Both were taken to Bayfront.

The crash happened about 9:47 p.m. at the intersection of Ulmerton Road (State Road 688) and 121st Street N. Troopers said Forte was driving a 2012 Toyota Scion west on Ulmerton “at a high rate of speed” approaching 121st. Williams was driving a 2006 Jeep Commanche south on 121st.

Williams stopped at a posted stop sign, then proceeded into the intersection into the path of the Toyota, troopers said. The resulting crash closed the intersection until about 5:30 a.m. today (Aug. 17).
