Both were thrown from the pickup truck they were in.

HERNANDO COUNTY – A driver and his passenger were critically injured in a one-vehicle crash Saturday  (Nov. 10) on U.S. 41, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The driver, Randall E. Thompson III, 20, and his passenger, Brittany Nicole Harrington, 19, both of Brooksville, were taken to the Regional Medical Center at Bayonet Point in critical condition. Neither was wearing a seat belt.

The crash happened about 5:03 p.m. on U.S. 41 south of Mason Smith Road in Hernando County.

Troopers said Thompson was driving a 1997 Chevrolet 2500 pickup truck south on U.S. 41 when, for an unknown reason, he lost control of the pickup, which traveled across the center grass median and into northbound lanes. The truck overturned several times and both were thrown out.
