Police Tape | Accident | Crime

The interstate is open again after two separate crashes closed the eastbound lanes until about 8:30 a.m., the Florida Highway Patrol said.

PLANT CITY – All lanes have reopened following two separate crashes that occurred this morning (April 1) along eastbound I-4 near the 21 milepost in Plant City, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Details are limited.

The first crash happened about 4:30 a.m. when a driver lost control of their vehicle, collided with the concrete barrier wall and came to rest in the travel lanes of I-4.  Four other vehicles then collided after taking evasive action to avoid the first vehicle.

As troopers cleared the first collision, about 6:30 a.m., a second two-vehicle crash occurred on the State Road 39 overpass in which drivers again lost control of their vehicle, one of which overturned.

The crashes closed the eastbound lanes of I-4 until about 8:30 a.m.
