Crash Kills Tampa Motorcyclist

A pickup truck pulled out in front of the motorcyclist, Hillsborough deputies said.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – A Tampa man died this morning (Jan. 3) when his motorcycle hit a truck that pulled into his path, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said.

Luis Antonio Serrano Santiago, 34, of Tampa, died at the scene.

The crash happened about 7:47 a.m. at the intersection of Dacca Drive and Madison Avenue.

Cindy Mobley, 55, of Tampa, was driving a 2006 Ford F250 south on Dacca. She stopped at a stop sign for the intersection with Madison Avenue.

Mr. Santiago was driving a 2004 Suzuki GSXR-600 west on Madison behind an unknown car, approaching Dacca Drive.

As the lead vehicle passed Mobley, she pulled out into the path of Santiago. Deputies said Mobley stopped when she saw the motorcycle and then pulled forward again.

Mr. Santiago swerved left and applied the brakes, but could not avoid the truck.The motorcycle struck the left side of the truck.

Citizens nearby called 9-1-1 and performed CPR.
