PASCO COUNTY – A Port Richey man died Friday (June 30) from injuries he received when he was thrown from his car during a traffic crash, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Karl Anthony Giambo, 36, of Port Richey, died at Florida Hospital North Pinellas where he was taken after the crash. He was not wearing a seat belt.

The crash happened about 7:31 p.m. on northbound U.S. 19 just south of Sunray Drive. Mr. Giambo was driving a 2001 Kia Optima that failed to slow when it overtook a 2002 Cadillac DeVille driven by Keith Floyd Kelver, 64, of Tarpon Springs. The Kia rear ended the Cadillac causing the Cadillac to spin and the Kia to overturn. As the Kia overturned, Mr. Giambo was thrown from the car.
