The other driver tried to make a U-turn that took her into the path of the motorcyclist, FHP troopers said.

PASCO COUNTY – A Hudson man died of injuries he suffered Friday (March 1) in a traffic crash, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Stephen Franklin Nix, 64, of Hudson, died at the Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point where he was taken after the crash. He was not wearing a helmet, according to an FHP release. Family members say he was wearing a helmet.. The other driver, Karla Lynn Switzer, 77, of Port Richey, was not injured.

The crash happened about 3:18 p.m. at the intersection of Hudson Avenue and Clayton Boulevard in Pasco County.

Troopers said Swtizer was driving a 2013 Chrysler sedan north on Clayton Boulevard. She stopped, then pulled into the intersection and tried to make a U-turn. The maneuver took her into the path of the 1995 Harley Davidson FLHR that Mr. Nix was driving east on Hudson Avenue. The motorcycle hit the right side of the Chrysler.

Troopers said charges are pending.
