HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – A Brandon man died Thursday (Aug. 17) from injuries he received in a traffic crash earlier in the evening, the Hillsborough Sheriff’s Office said.

Orlando Rodriguez Jr., 23, of Brandon, died at Brandon Regional Hospital. He was wearing a helmet.

The crash happened about 6:57 p.m. at the intersection of Kings Avenue and Southview Drive. Jasmine Burch, 31, of Brandon, was driving a 2006 Volvo XC90 southbound on Kings. She slowed to make a left turn onto eastbound Southview with an active left turn signal and failed to see Mr. Rodriguez, who was riding a Kawasaki ZX1000-J motorcycle northbound on Kings. The motorcycle struck the rear passenger side of the Volvo, deputies said.
