Courtney Campbell Crash Kills Motorcyclist

He rear-ended another vehicle, Clearwater police said. The motorcycle caught fire after the crash.

CLEARWATER – Westbound lanes of the Courtney Campbell Causeway were closed for several hours this morning after a crash that killed a Largo motorcyclist, the Clearwater Police Department said.

Nathaniel N. Varnadore, 29, of Largo, died at Mease Countryside Hospital where he was taken after the crash. There were no other injuries.

The crash happened about 3:16 a.m. on the Courtney Campbell about 200 yards east of Damascus Road in Clearwater.

Police said Mr. Varnadore was driving a 2018 Suzuki motorcycle in the westbound lanes when he rear-ended a 2005 Honda Civic driven by Anthony C. Tucker, 59, of Dunedin. The motorcycle caught fire after the collision.

The crash closed the westbound lanes of the Courtney Campbell for several hours while the investigation was taking place.
