Clearwater Crash Kills Motorcyclist

The crash closed the roadway at Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard and Hercules Avenue.

CLEARWATER – A Palm Harbor man died this morning (Aug. 31) from injuries he suffered in a traffic crash, according to the Clearwater Police Department.

Joshua Douglass, 23, of Palm Harbor, died at a hospital where he was taken after the crash.

Information about the crash is limited. Police said it happened shortly after midnight at the intersection of Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard and Hercules Avenue. He was traveling east at a high rate of speed when he collided with an SUV that was turning west on Gulf-to-Bay from Hercules.

Police closed all travel lanes in the area. Although some lanes are open, traffic is still impeded. Officer suggested that drivers who want to get to Clearwater High School approach the school in the eastbound lanes on Gulf-to-Bay from Keene Road.
