Child, 6, Injured in 18th Avenue Crash

It is unclear if a second child was also hit, St. Petersburg police said.

ST. PETERSBURG – At least one child was seriously injured Friday (Nov. 30) when she was hit by a car while crossing 18th Avenue S, the St. Petersburg Police Department said.

The child, 6, was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. A second child, 13, was with her. Police said it is unclear if that child was also hit by the car.

Officers said the crash happened about 5:35 p.m. at 18th Avenue and 28th Street S. The two children were crossing 18th Avenue S when they were hit by a 2000 Toyota Celica driven by Jordan Davis, 28, who was eastbound on 18th Avenue. Davis stayed on scene and is cooperating with the investigation, police said.
