HERNANDO COUNTY – A Brooksville woman was critically injured this morning (Sept. 27) when she crashed into a Hernando school bus, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The 30-year-old woman’s name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. She was airlifted to Bayonet Point Hospital. She was not wearing a seat belt, the FHP said. No one on the school bus was injured.

The crash happened about 6:07 a.m. on Mondon Hill Road. Troopers said the woman was driving a 1992 Saturn east. She was overtaking a 2008 Thompson school bus driven by Willamena Parrott Bates, 57, of Brooksville. The bus had just picked up its first student and was moving slowly. The Saturn did not slow or stop and rear ended the bus.
